Hey Everyone! I’m excited to be here for a week. Big thanks to the @imakefoss team for the invite. I’m looking forward to sharing my open-source journey here as an @outreachy intern with @inkscape .

My inbox is flooded with queries while writing this tweet. The @outreachy initial application results are out. Many who are selected are now confused about what to do next. I have been there too. It can be intimidating to make your first open-source contribution.

@outreachy @kavya_jaiswal_ This same time last year, I had a similar feeling until I contacted my project mentor, @realdoctormo . I remember, Martin patiently explained (to all the @inkscape applicants) how to make our first code contribution to the @inkscape codebase over a video call.

@outreachy @kavya_jaiswal_ @realdoctormo @inkscape It can be a difficult task to ask questions on public communication channels during the initial days of contribution. The constant fear that others may find our questions silly prevents us from asking our doubts. But believe me, no question is a silly question.

@outreachy @kavya_jaiswal_ @realdoctormo @inkscape So, don’t hesitate to discuss your doubts with your mentor or the community and ask them for help. The community has been working on it for years, they are a good resource to ask our doubts.
